For all you coffee lovers out there who love the smell of a freshly brewed coffee in the morning, I have a story to share.
Many years ago before I became a tea lover, I used to love my daily coffee! I found this funny moment jotted down in one of my journals.
Here it is:
The other day I dropped my eldest off at preschool and grabbed a coffee. The young barista at the café knows me and we have a little chat every time I drop by. This time she took one look at me and asked, “Large today?”
I thought why not, so a large it was. As I was bundling my youngest into her car seat, I put my coffee on top of the roof of the car.
You guessed it. I set off in the morning traffic, came to an intersection and when I reached for my cup to take a sip, my coffee … er … wasn’t there.
Yep, I’d left it on the roof! Not to be deterred, I made a sprint for it when the lights turned red, and sure enough my trusty coffee was still upright. It had hardly shifted during a trip of about four hundred metres! I couldn’t stop laughing at myself. I decided the fact that it was the ‘large’ and not regular size had a lot to do with it.
But what was really great was when I looked around, at people crossing the road and other drivers in their cars, a lot of them were smiling and laughing too. I remember thinking to myself, how wonderful that a moment of vagueness on my part has put smiles of delight on so many sleepy overworked faces. My experience is that life turns up funny embarrassing moments exactly when you really need them, especially when you need to lighten up.
